Accreditation: Powering Innovation and Research Across Africa
At the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) 2025 held in Algiers, Algeria, the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) was represented by Mr. Mutetei Mutisya, a member of the African Accreditation Cooperation (AFRAC) Marketing & Communications Committee, during the session themed “The Role of Standards in Research and Innovation Management” at the AUC Village.
In a high-level panel discussion, Mr. Mutisya highlighted how accreditation plays a pivotal role in enabling African innovators, researchers, and start-ups to thrive by:
✨ Building trust in research data, processes, and products.
✨ Acting as a passport that allows innovators to access regional and global markets without the need for repeated testing.
✨ Providing credibility and confidence that accelerate market entry for new technologies, medical solutions, and research outcomes.
As he aptly put it:
“Accreditation is like Wi-Fi for innovation — once you’re connected, you’re recognized everywhere.”
Through accreditation, KENAS continues to advance Kenya’s contribution to Africa’s innovation ecosystem — ensuring that the continent’s research, science, and technology outputs meet global standards of competence, reliability, and integrity.
KENAS remains proud to work with AFRAC and other continental partners in building a quality infrastructure that transforms innovation into real, measurable impact for Africa’s development and trade growth.
