KENAS has accredited the Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABS) as a Product Certification Body, the first conformity assessment body to be accredited by KENAS in Zambia. This is a significant milestone, as ZABS has successfully satisfied the rigorous requirements of ISO/IEC 17065:2012 for their ACAP Certification Scheme, specifically for Black Tea and Tilapia products.

Product certification accreditation is critical in ensuring that certified products meet established quality and safety standards. The accreditation of ZABS by KENAS under ISO/IEC 17065:2012 solidifies its reputation as a competent certifier and assures stakeholders, including manufacturers, regulators, and consumers, of the quality and integrity of their certification processes.

Zambian producers of Black Tea and Tilapia will enjoy improved access to regional and international markets. The certified products are better positioned to compete in export markets, contributing to the country’s economic development.

In addition, accreditation will protect consumers by ensuring the products they consume are safe, reliable, and meet quality standards. This builds trust in local brands and boosts consumer confidence in Zambian products.

KENAS is making inroads regionally, reaffirming its commitment to supporting quality infrastructure development across Africa as we provide accreditation services in more than 12 countries across the continent, currently.

Congratulations to the Zambia Bureau of Standards on this remarkable achievement. KENAS looks forward to continued collaboration as we work towards a safer, more competitive, and quality-driven Africa.
