When Research Gains Trust, Agriculture Gains Power

At the heart of Kenya’s agricultural transformation lies one truth: trust fuels growth.

During the Kenya National Research Festival 2025 at Egerton University, KENAS CEO, Dr. Walter Ongeti, moderated a high-impact session on “Creating Awareness and Opportunities for Agricultural Financing.” The conversation drew a crucial connection between accreditation and agricultural finance—revealing how trusted, quality-assured data and services can unlock funding, drive innovation, and open markets for researchers and farmers alike.

Dr. Ongeti used the platform to introduce KENAS’s accreditation schemes—including ISO/IEC 17025 for testing laboratories and ISO 15189 for medical laboratories—emphasizing that accreditation is not just about compliance, but confidence. It ensures that every test result, every certification, and every research finding can stand up to scrutiny, both locally and globally.

“Accredited results build the bridge between research and reality—between innovation and investment.”

In his remarks, Dr. Ongeti also extended an invitation to the upcoming International Accreditation Conference (IAC) 2025, set for November, where these vital conversations will continue on a global stage.

As KENAS continues to champion credible science and trusted systems, the message is clear:
✅ When research is trusted, funding flows.
✅ When services are accredited, markets open.
✅ When quality is assured, food security thrives.

Accreditation is the invisible power behind Kenya’s journey toward sustainable agriculture and resilient economies—turning potential into prosperity, and data into development.
