Strengthening Justice Through Trusted Forensic Accreditation

Strengthening Justice Through Trusted Forensic Accreditation

When forensic results are trusted, justice is protected.

The Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP), is advancing the accreditation of forensic laboratories across Eastern Africa.

Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 (Testing and Calibration Laboratories) and ISO/IEC 17020 (Inspection Bodies) provides the technical assurance, credibility, and impartiality essential for forensic work.

For citizens, this means:
✅ Reliable and scientifically sound evidence in courtrooms
✅ Fair trials and stronger accountability mechanisms
✅ Greater public confidence in justice and law enforcement institutions

This partnership not only strengthens KENAS’s technical capacity but also reinforces a powerful truth — credible evidence protects citizens, upholds justice, and builds trust in governance.

At KENAS, we remain committed to ensuring that every result, every test, and every analysis stands up to the highest global standards of integrity and accuracy.
